Short Depth Rackmount UPS Systems
Standard rack UPS systems run 16–20 inches deep. Wall-mount cabinets, shallow IDF enclosures, and AV credenzas are typically 9–12 inches deep. When the UPS won’t physically fit, depth — not load or runtime — is the constraint that determines what gets specified.
Why standard UPS systems don’t fit
Most rackmount UPS systems are designed for full-depth server racks — typically 24–30 inch cabinet depths. Real-world edge and network infrastructure is rarely that deep. The environments below represent the most common installation constraints that make short-depth UPS specification necessary.
Small enclosed cabinets mounted to walls in IDF locations, telecom rooms, and utility spaces are typically 12–16 inches deep. Standard 1U rack UPS systems at 16–20 inches won’t fit. The J60C at 8.5 inches installs cleanly with room for cabling.
Two-post wall racks and open-frame shallow racks in network closets often have 12–14 inch usable depth. Standard UPS units physically overhang the rack or require adapters that compromise cable management and airflow.
AV equipment racks in conference rooms, hospitality environments, and retail locations are typically furniture-depth — 10–14 inches. Short-depth UPS systems allow battery backup to be integrated into the AV rack without requiring a separate infrastructure cabinet.
Structured wiring enclosures in residential and light commercial installations are extremely shallow — often 4–8 inches. The J60C’s 8.5″ depth is the practical minimum for a full UPS in these environments. Anything deeper simply won’t close the door.
Short depth UPS platforms — depth, capacity, and battery
All platforms listed are under 12 inches deep. Within this range, available depth determines which platforms fit. The J60C is the shallowest at 8.5 inches. Higher capacity platforms require slightly more depth but remain under the 12-inch short-depth threshold.
| Model | Height | Depth | Capacity | Battery | Availability |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| J60C / J60Ci | 1U | 8.5″ | 600VA / 360W | Lithium LiFePO₄ | Available now |
| V70-700 | 1U | 9.2″ | 700VA / 420W | Lead acid | September 2026 |
| V70-1000 | 2U | 9.0″ | 1000VA / 600W | Lead acid | September 2026 |
| V70-1500 | 2U | 10.5″ | 1500VA / 900W | Lead acid | September 2026 |
| P91-1kLi | 2U | 11.6″ | 1000VA / 900W | Lithium LiFePO₄ | September 2026 |
Under 9 inches of available depth — J60C / J60Ci is the only option. Between 9 and 11 inches — the V70 Series becomes available at higher capacity. At 11–12 inches — the P91-1kLi adds online double-conversion lithium at 1kVA. Always measure usable rack depth including cabling clearance before specifying any rackmount UPS.
Short depth UPS platforms
Online-class standby UPS in a 1U short-depth form factor. Rack or wall mount. Fanless — no dust ingestion in non-conditioned closets. LiFePO₄ battery eliminates replacement across distributed sites. Optional SNMP/Web monitoring card. TAA compliant. J60C for 120V; J60Ci for 230V international deployments.

Line-interactive topology with lead acid battery. Right choice where higher load capacity is needed and the J60C’s 600VA ceiling is insufficient. Arriving September 2026.

LiFePO₄ battery, 50°C operation, no routine replacement. The right choice where online topology is required, load exceeds the J60C’s 600VA ceiling, and depth is constrained to under 12 inches. Arriving September 2026.
