P80 line-interactive rack UPS

The P80 is a 120 V pure sine wave line-interactive rack/tower UPS for network, AV, and distributed IT environments where continuous double-conversion conditioning isn’t required but reliable battery backup and voltage regulation are essential. Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) corrects under- and over-voltage without using the battery, while up to 99% ECO-mode efficiency lowers operating cost. For full-time conditioning, see the online P91.

Overview

Efficient rack-level power protection

The P80 is designed for environments where utility power is relatively stable and full-time double conversion is not required. Line-interactive topology regulates voltage using AVR while maintaining high operating efficiency; during outages, the system transfers to battery (typical 2–6 ms) to support ride-through and controlled shutdown. The result is a practical balance of protection, efficiency, and cost for distributed infrastructure — with pure sine wave output for sensitive electronic loads.

Key features

What the P80 delivers

Topology

Line-interactive with AVR

Automatic Voltage Regulation corrects under-/over-voltage without draining the battery, extending battery life and improving availability.

Output

Pure sine wave

Clean, network-grade sine wave output safely powers active PFC power supplies and sensitive electronics.

Efficiency

Up to 99% ECO

High-efficiency ECO mode (99%) and 95% buck/boost mode reduce energy consumption and heat at all load levels.

Battery

Hot-swap + temp-compensated

Replace a tired battery during business hours without a maintenance window or dropping the load; temperature-compensated charging stretches battery life so the swap comes around less often.

Control

Programmable receptacle group

Drop the printer and lab gear first so the firewall and switch ride an outage longer on the same battery; the smart LCD shows exactly what each group is doing from the front panel.

Serviceability

Maintenance bypass + auto-restart

Service or swap the UPS through the optional XBDM bypass without taking the rack down (excludes the P80-3000); after a full discharge, auto-restart brings the load back as soon as utility returns — no truck roll to power-cycle.

Where it fits

The standard line-interactive rack tier

The P80 operates as the standard line-interactive UPS platform within distributed rack environments — deployed across IDF/MDF closets, telecom and structured cabling, and AV, security, and commercial infrastructure. It sits between entry-level UPS and online double-conversion platforms in the Xtreme Power architecture.

P80 vs online double-conversion

Line-interactive or online?

Compared to online UPS platforms, the P80 is designed for applications where full-time power conditioning isn’t necessary — offering higher operating efficiency, lower complexity, and reduced cost while still providing battery backup and voltage regulation. Online systems such as the P91 are selected when zero transfer time, generator coordination, or highly sensitive loads require continuous conditioning.

Modernization

Replace legacy APC / Eaton line-interactive UPS

The P80 is commonly deployed as a replacement for legacy rack UPS systems — APC Smart-UPS SMT, Eaton 5P and Tripp Lite SmartPro, and Vertiv Liebert PSI — providing a standardized platform for distributed infrastructure with simplified deployment and consistent lifecycle management across sites.

See how the P80 compares against APC, Eaton 5P, and Tripp Lite line-interactive platforms.

Rack integration

Distribution and outlet-level control

The P80’s multiple output receptacles let a single UPS protect several devices within a rack. It is commonly deployed with rack-mounted power distribution — including intelligent PDUs — to enable outlet-level control, monitoring, and simplified power management, providing a standardized approach to rack-level power across distributed environments.
