Capacity growth in one cabinet

The X90-2S is designed for 480V environments that need higher capacity than compact systems while keeping a simplified, integrated architecture. Power modules, batteries, and maintenance bypass are contained within a single enclosure — eliminating separate battery cabinets in many deployments while enabling expansion within the same footprint. Built around one or two 50 or 70 kW power modules, the X90-2S scales from 50 to 140 kW, with internal batteries supporting loads up to 100 kW in the single cabinet. Both the three-wire and four-wire versions share the same cabinet, modules, runtimes, and service architecture — only the input and output topology differs.

Choosing a version

Three-wire or four-wire

The choice comes down to what is downstream. If every load on the UPS is three-phase, or if line-to-neutral loads are already served by a separate distribution path, the three-wire version is the simpler and less expensive installation. If the facility feeds 277VAC line-to-neutral branch circuits — lighting, single-phase mechanical, or mixed commercial loads — the four-wire version carries the neutral through the UPS and removes an entire piece of downstream equipment from the design.

X90-2S 3W — 480V three-wire

480VAC three-phase in and out. The right choice where the connected load is entirely three-phase and no neutral needs to pass through the UPS. Fewer conductors, simpler terminations.

X90-2S 4W — 480/277V four-wire

480/277VAC with a distributed neutral. 277VAC line-to-neutral loads connect directly — no downstream step-down transformer, and no separate distribution path for single-phase branch circuits.

Unbalanced loading (4W)

The four-wire topology carries 100% unbalanced single-phase load across phases, so branch circuits do not have to be balanced by design or rebalanced as the facility changes.

Everything else is shared

Same cabinet and footprint, same 50/70 kW power modules, same battery modules and runtimes, same 65 kAIC breakers, bypass, touchscreen, and service access. The version decision does not change the rest of the design.

Highlights

What defines the X90-2S

Highest availability

Configurable with redundant power and battery modules — N+1 within installed slot capacity for continuous uptime.

High-efficiency operation

Up to 96.5% in online mode and 99% in ECO mode, reducing energy cost in continuous duty.

50 or 70 kW power modules

One or two hot-swappable power modules scale the system from 50 kW up to 140 kW.

Integrated batteries

Internal batteries provide up to 6 minutes at 100 kW — no external enclosure required up to 100 kW.

Full front access

No rear clearance needed for maintenance — supports against-wall and tight-room installs.

Integral maintenance bypass

Front bypass enables service and repair with no external bypass gear.

10″ touchscreen LCD

Graphic display of real-time status and alarms.

277V loads direct (4W)

The four-wire version supports 277VAC line-to-neutral branch circuits straight off the UPS output, eliminating a downstream transformer.

Dual or single input

Flexible input configuration for maximum installation flexibility.

Top cable access (standard)

Optional 6″ side-car kit adds bottom cable entry (increases width by 6″).

Where X90-2S fits

The X90 platform family

X90-2S is the scalable integrated platform within the X90 family — used in data centers, industrial systems, medical environments, and modular infrastructure needing higher capacity and redundancy. The family scales on a shared architecture:

X90-2S vs. conventional 480V UPS

Scale without the multi-cabinet footprint

Traditional modular UPS systems often require external battery cabinets and additional floor space as capacity increases. The X90-2S integrates runtime and maintenance bypass into a single cabinet, enabling scalable capacity without the footprint and complexity of multi-cabinet systems — for higher power density and simplified deployment while maintaining full system performance.

Runtime & redundancy

Integrated runtime, redundancy, and X90-BC expansion

The integrated battery system provides internal runtime suitable for generator ride-through and short-duration outages — up to 6 minutes at 100 kW. The modular architecture supports redundancy and serviceability through hot-swappable power and battery modules, allowing maintenance without system downtime. For extended runtime or 140 kW configurations, the optional X90-BC battery cabinet adds up to 36 battery modules.

Load ↓ / modules → Internal — UPS cabinet Requires X90-BC battery cabinet

100 kW 6 7 9 11 13 15 17 18 20 22
140 kW 6 7 8 10 11 12 14 15

Runtimes are identical for the 3W and 4W versions. Runtimes in minutes; vary with battery age and site conditions. Modules 8–20 are internal to the UPS cabinet (4/8/12/16/20 installed); shaded columns (24–56) require the optional X90-BC battery cabinet. 140 kW configurations require X90-BC for meaningful runtime. N+1 redundancy is configured within installed slot capacity and is not implied at a frame’s fully-populated maximum.
