What is a DIN rail UPS, and why mount one in the panel?
Conventional UPS systems don’t fit in control panels. The J60 was designed from the ground up for embedded industrial installation: the form factor, the battery chemistry, the thermal design, and the mounting options are all specific to this application.
At 1.25 inches thick and 3.4 lbs, the J60 occupies minimal space on a DIN rail or panel surface. Standard 35mm DIN rail mounting with the optional J60-DIN kit, the same rail your PLCs, terminals, and I/O modules use.
LiFePO₄ (lithium iron phosphate) batteries are rated for 3,000-5,000 discharge cycles and up to 15 years service life in ideal conditions. Battery replacement inside a running control panel is eliminated for the life of the installation.
Industrial enclosures and electrical rooms frequently exceed 35-40°C. The J60 operates reliably to 50°C with capacity derating above 40°C. Lead acid batteries in the same environment would see accelerated aging and significantly shortened service life.
No fan means no airflow path for dust, metal particles, or contaminants into the UPS. The J60’s passive cooling design requires no filter maintenance and eliminates fan failure as a failure mode, which matters in dusty factory and fabrication environments.
The J60 automatically powers back on when utility power is restored, with no manual intervention required. Control panels running unattended in remote or unmanned locations maintain continuous protection without operator action after a power event.

DIN rail mount, panel mount, and wall mount
Three mounting options cover every industrial installation scenario. DIN rail mounting is the most common for new panel builds; panel mount and flat mount suit retrofit installations and space-constrained enclosures. Whether you call it a DIN rail mounted UPS, a DIN mount UPS, or a panel mount UPS, it is the same unit and the same kit.

DIN rail mount: uses the optional J60-DIN Mounting Kit. Clips directly onto standard 35mm DIN rails alongside PLCs, terminal blocks, I/O modules, and other rail-mounted components. No panel cutout or additional hardware required beyond the kit.

Panel mount / wall mount: mounts flat against any panel, backplate, or wall surface using the integrated mounting slots, with no kit required. This is the option to use when the rail is already full, when the enclosure has backplate space but no spare rail, or when a panel mount UPS is simply the cleaner layout.

Flat surface: sits horizontally on any flat surface inside or alongside equipment. Useful for temporary installations, OEM integration, or applications where fixed mounting isn’t required.

Converting an existing cabinet from lead acid to lithium
Most J60 installations are not new panel builds. They are cabinets that already have a UPS in them, and the sealed lead-acid battery has reached the end of its third or fourth replacement cycle. The conversion is usually straightforward, and it removes a recurring service cost rather than deferring it.

It almost always fits: at 1.25″ thick and 3.4 lbs, the J60 generally goes in where a VRLA unit came out with room left over. Panel mount needs no rail space at all, so a full rail is not a blocker.

Check three things first: depth available in the enclosure, the actual load in Watts against the 200W (350VA) or 360W (600VA) rating, and continuous ambient temperature. The J60 is rated to 50°C, with warranty derating above 40°C continuous.

The battery cycle goes away: LiFePO₄ is rated 3,000–5,000 cycles and up to 15 years, against the 3–5 years a VRLA unit gets in the same cabinet. On a fleet of panels, that is the difference between a standing replacement program and leaving them alone.

It is a true AC UPS: AC in, AC out, with battery backup. Not a 24 VDC buffer, hold-up, or redundancy module — those live on the DC side of a 24V supply and solve a different problem. If the load runs on AC, this is the right category.
Runtime by load: J60-600 / J60i-600 (360W max)
Runtime depends on actual load, and PLC and automation loads are typically well below nameplate maximum, which means real-world runtime is often significantly longer than the minimum. A 50W PLC load on a 600VA J60 delivers well over an hour of runtime.

Optional SNMP and web monitoring
The optional Web/SNMP Card (SNMP-J60) adds full remote management to the J60-600 and J60i-600. The 350VA models do not support this option. When installed, it enables:

Where a panel mount UPS gets specified

Optical network terminals in zone boxes and enclosures
The same mounting problem turns up outside the control panel. In a passive optical LAN the floor closet is designed out, and an optical network terminal is installed in a ceiling zone box, a wall cavity, or a furniture raceway, none of which will take a conventional tower UPS. DIN rail and panel mounting put the backup power inside the same enclosure as the ONT. Sizing differs from an automation load in one important way: a bare ONT draws under 10 W, but an ONT sourcing Power over Ethernet to an access point or camera can draw 70 W or more, and all of it passes through the UPS.
Certifications
5-year warranty covering electronics and battery in the USA and Canada. Warranty is reduced to 2 years for installations where ambient temperature continuously exceeds 40°C and is below 50°C. The J60 is not rated for ambient temperatures above 50°C.
