1500VA 120V UPS Systems for 15A Circuits
1500VA is the maximum practical UPS size for a standard 120V 15A circuit — the 80% continuous load rule limits a 15A breaker to 12A continuous, which is 1,440W at 120V. Seven platforms cover this capacity across line-interactive, online, and lithium topologies.
Seven platforms — find the right one for your application
The difference between these platforms is topology, battery chemistry, form factor, and runtime capability — not capacity. All are 1500VA at 120V on a standard 5-15P plug.
Line-interactive topology with AVR voltage regulation. Tower form factor. The right choice for basic office equipment, POS terminals, and non-critical loads where online double-conversion is not required and budget is the primary constraint.
Designed for shallow racks, wall-mount cabinets, and AV infrastructure where standard rack UPS depth is a constraint. Line-interactive topology. Not yet available — check product page for availability.
Line-interactive topology in a convertible rack/tower form factor. Supports external battery packs for extended runtime — useful where 10–15 minutes isn’t enough but online topology isn’t required. Good value for IT, retail, and light industrial at this capacity.
Online double-conversion — zero transfer time, continuous power conditioning. Tower form factor for locations where a rack isn’t available. External battery packs extend runtime beyond what the internal battery provides. Right choice for sensitive equipment in a tower deployment.
Online double-conversion in a convertible rack/tower form factor. External battery packs extend runtime. The standard rackmount online UPS for network infrastructure, AV systems, and distributed IT at this capacity — where online topology is required but lithium isn’t specified.
Same form factor and topology as the P91 with LiFePO₄ battery chemistry — up to 15-year service life in ideal conditions, 3,000–5,000 cycles, 50°C operation. The right choice when the P91’s performance profile is right but battery replacement across distributed sites is operationally unacceptable.
Online double-conversion in a 1U form factor with switchable outlets for remote reboot of individual devices. LiFePO₄ battery — no routine replacement. High-temperature operation to 50°C for non-conditioned IDF closets. Internal battery only — no external battery pack support at this capacity. See J90-1.5kLiX below for extended runtime capability.
The X variant of the J90 1.5kVA adds compatibility with external battery packs for significantly extended runtime — combining the J90’s online double-conversion, switchable outlets, LiFePO₄ chemistry, and 50°C operation with the runtime flexibility previously only available on lead acid platforms. Typical runtime at 1500VA · 120V
Runtime depends on actual load — not UPS capacity. A 1500VA UPS running a 400W load runs significantly longer than the same UPS at 900W. These ranges reflect typical deployments across the platform lineup.
