V70 short-depth UPS comparisons
The Xtreme Power V70 family is a line-interactive, short-depth rackmount UPS line built for shallow network cabinets, AV racks, retail and POS systems, security closets, and distributed edge IT — deployments that prioritize rack depth, mounting flexibility, and TAA-compliant procurement. This hub is the reference for evaluating the three V70 models against 17 competing rackmount UPS from APC, Eaton, Eaton Tripp Lite, CyberPower, and Minuteman, each in a capacity-matched, head-to-head comparison.
Short-depth rackmount UPS deployment
Short-depth UPS platforms are deployed where standard-depth rackmount units will not physically fit — shallow wall-mount cabinets, two-post relay racks, AV furniture, and security enclosures. In these environments, chassis depth, mounting flexibility (rack, wall, or tower), cord routing, and TAA-compliant procurement frequently drive selection as much as raw capacity.
Three models for short-depth deployments
| Model | Capacity | Form factor / depth | Typical deployment |
|---|---|---|---|
| V70-700 | 700 VA / 420 W | 1U · 9.2 in deep | AV racks, network closets, security panels |
| V70-1000 | 1000 VA / 600 W | 2U · 9 in deep | Entry servers, POS, VoIP, edge IT |
| V70-1500 | 1440 VA / 900 W | 2U · 10.5 in deep | Network closets, retail back-office, distributed IT |
Shared platform characteristics: line-interactive topology with automatic voltage regulation, a short-depth chassis, rack/wall/tower mounting with hardware included, a 10 ft right-angle cord, simulated sine-wave output, optional Web/SNMP management, standard TAA compliance, and a 3-year warranty that includes the battery.
Simulated sine wave vs pure sine wave
The V70 produces a simulated (stepped) sine-wave output on battery, which is well-suited to the broad range of IT, AV, networking, and POS equipment these short-depth deployments typically serve. Several competitors here — the APC SMC and SMT, the Eaton 5P, and the CyberPower PFC units — output a true or pure sine wave, which is preferable for active-PFC power supplies and other highly sensitive loads. Where pure sine-wave output or full online double-conversion is required, the in-family step ups are the line-interactive pure-sine P80 and the online double-conversion P91. Each per-model comparison below names the waveform difference explicitly where it applies.
V70 competitive comparisons by model
Each competitor links to a detailed, capacity-matched comparison against the corresponding V70 model. The “where the V70 leads” column summarizes the V70’s primary advantages; competitor strengths (pure sine-wave output, higher watt capacity, longer runtime, extended-battery options) are documented honestly on each page.

Competitor figures are taken from Xtreme Power’s published comparison datasheets; confirm per SKU against current vendor documentation. The APC SMT1500RM2U was discontinued in January 2022. Both Eaton Tripp Lite SMART1500 units are TAA-compliant (parity, not a V70 advantage). Tripp Lite is an Eaton brand; Minuteman is a separate manufacturer. The V70-1500 at 700 W is also compared against the Minuteman PRO1000RT2U at a matched 700 W load.
Higher-performance architectures
The V70 is optimized for short-depth, line-interactive deployments. Some applications need more — depending on load sensitivity, runtime, or battery chemistry.
