T91i long-runtime online tower UPS

The T91i is a 208–240 V online double-conversion tower UPS for global commercial, industrial, and distributed infrastructure where extended runtime is the primary requirement — beyond the limits of compact rack UPS. Unity output power factor delivers up to 43% more usable watts than a typical UPS; up to seven matching battery packs scale runtime to about four hours; and a programmable 2–8 A charger recharges to about 95% in three hours. Online topology delivers continuous conditioned power with zero transfer time. For 120 V, see the T91.

Overview

Long-runtime power for 208–240V

The T91i is designed for environments where outages extend beyond typical UPS runtime expectations — light industrial applications, point of sale, servers, voice and data networks, and laboratories. Unlike rack UPS optimized for short-duration protection, it adds up to seven matching battery packs and programmable charging to support runtime to about four hours, keeping infrastructure operational during prolonged outages or until backup generation is available. Online double-conversion topology delivers a pure sine wave with zero transfer time, isolating connected equipment from voltage disturbances across global 208–240 V environments, and unity output power factor lets the T91i support up to 43% more critical load than a typical UPS of the same VA rating.

Key features

What the T91i delivers

Power

Power up to 43% more equipment

Unity output power factor (kVA = kW) means every VA is a usable watt — the T91i supports up to 43% more critical load than a typical 0.7–0.8 PF UPS of the same rating, with no need to oversize.

Runtime

Scale runtime to about four hours

Add up to seven matching T91-BP72A battery packs to extend runtime from minutes to roughly four hours — sized to load and continuity requirements, with no change to the tower footprint per pack.

Charging

Recharge to 95% in three hours

A programmable charger, selectable from 2 to 8 A at the LCD, refills larger battery banks fast — about 95% in three hours — so the system is ready for the next outage instead of charging for a day.

Resilience

Reliable on generator power

Wide input voltage and frequency windows (110–300 VAC, 50/60 Hz auto-sensing) keep the T91i online through generator transfer and unstable utility — built for sites that ride through long events.

Control

Load shedding and safe shutdown

Programmable load shedding maximizes uptime for the most critical loads by dropping less-critical ones first, and an emergency power-off interface meets demanding application safety standards.

Protection

$50,000 load-protection policy

Best-in-class conditioning backed by a $50,000 connected-equipment load-protection policy, plus RS-232, USB, and optional Web/SNMP, Modbus, and relay/dry-contact cards for remote monitoring across sites.

Where it fits

The 208–240V long-runtime tower tier

The T91i is the long-runtime tower UPS for 208–240 V infrastructure — typically deployed floor-mounted or equipment-adjacent, across global commercial and industrial sites, wherever runtime requirements exceed rack-UPS capability. It is the 208–240 V counterpart to the 120 V T91.

Choose the T91i for 208–240 V long-runtime protection in a floor-standing tower; step down to the T91 for the same architecture at 120 V; choose the P91g when you need rack density with scalable runtime instead of a tower; or move to the J90i when lithium chemistry and a longer battery service life are the priority.

T91i vs rack UPS

Tower runtime or rack density?

Rack UPS systems are typically optimized for density and short-duration runtime. The T91i is designed for applications where runtime is the primary requirement — its tower form factor supports larger battery systems and higher charging capacity, enabling significantly longer backup durations. For rack-based runtime at 208–240 V, the P91g provides scalable runtime in a rack chassis.

Modernization

Replace legacy long-runtime UPS

The T91i is commonly deployed as a replacement for extended-runtime UPS platforms — APC Smart-UPS Online (208–240V tower configurations), Eaton 9PX / 9SX extended-runtime systems, and Vertiv Liebert GXT tower deployments — providing a simplified long-runtime architecture with scalable battery expansion and predictable deployment across global infrastructure.

At a glance

T91i-3000 vs the Eaton 9SX at 3 kVA

The 9SX is the online double-conversion tower the T91i most directly replaces in 208–240 V deployments. Here they are at 3 kVA; the 2 kVA pairing follows the same pattern.

Feature (3 kVA) Xtreme T91i-3000 Eaton 9SX3000I
Real power 3000 W (unity PF) 2700 W (0.9 PF)
Charger Selectable 2–8 A (about 95% in 3 hr) ABM-managed, not user-selectable rate
Battery expansion Up to 7 matching packs Up to 4 EBMs

Weight 66 lb about 74 lb
TAA compliant Yes No
Warranty 3 yr / 3 yr 3 yr

The T91i-3000 leads on usable watts (unity vs 0.9 PF — about 300 W more real power), a faster user-selectable charger, deeper runtime expansion (7 packs vs 4 EBMs), a smaller and lighter chassis, and standard TAA compliance; warranty is matched at 3 years. The 9SX brings Eaton’s ABM battery-management charging and a broad global service network. The T91i is also cross-shopped against APC Smart-UPS Online and Vertiv Liebert GXT. Eaton 9SX3000I figures are from published Eaton documentation; verify against current Eaton specifications for a quote.
