UPS for Kiosks and Digital Signage

Clean, reliable backup that keeps self-service systems online

Kiosks run critical self-service functions across retail, healthcare, transportation, hospitality, and public spaces. When power drops, even for seconds, transactions stop, screens go dark, and customers walk away. A kiosk UPS with long-life LiFePO₄ batteries delivers up to 15 years of service, or 3,000 to 5,000 discharge cycles, of clean backup power.

Why It Matters

Why kiosks need a UPS

Kiosks often sit in shared, public, or outdoor power environments where disturbances are common and on-site support is not. The right UPS keeps them running and protects what is behind the screen.

Zero downtime

Keep the kiosk operating through outages and power disturbances in areas with unstable or shared circuits.

Equipment protection

Safeguard displays, processors, payment terminals, sensors, and networking gear from surges and sags.

Transaction security

Prevent data loss and corruption during customer interactions and payments.

Extended system life

Filtering surges and electrical noise reduces component wear and failures over time.

Remote monitoring

An optional SNMP or web card lets IT manage many kiosks without site visits.

Public-space silence

Fanless operation runs silently in customer-facing environments.

Applications

Self-service, across every environment

The same compact UPS platform protects a wide range of unattended self-service systems, each with its own uptime demands.

Retail and POS kiosks

Prevents transaction loss and keeps self-checkout lanes moving during outages.

Self-service terminals

Maintains consistent customer access and uptime in lobbies and storefronts.

Outdoor payment stations

Stabilizes power for equipment exposed to temperature swings and rougher circuits.

Digital signage

Keeps advertising, wayfinding, and messaging displays always live.

Healthcare check-in

Secures patient data and keeps check-in and wayfinding accessible.

Transit and parking

Keeps ticketing, fare, and payment machines running unattended.

The Product

UPS models for kiosk deployment

J60 UPS beside a self-service terminal PC and display
A J60 keeps a self-service terminal online beside the PC and display it protects, with no fan noise in the public space.

The J60 is an ultra-compact, fanless lithium UPS in 350 and 600VA, mounting on a wall, DIN rail, or flat surface behind the kiosk, with an optional SNMP/web card and operation to 50°C. The J90 is an online 1U UPS in 1000 and 1500VA with switchable outlets, letting IT remotely reboot a frozen kiosk PC or peripheral across many sites. The A60 is a cost-effective lead acid standby option for budget-sensitive, climate-controlled indoor deployments.

* Lithium warranty reduces to 2 years when installed above 40°C (104°F) and up to 50°C (122°F). Output capacity derates above 40°C; sizing for hot or outdoor enclosures should account for this.

Power Quality

Noisy kiosk environments need conditioning

Kiosks near refrigeration, HVAC, motors, or shared circuits face continuous electrical noise that backup alone does not address. The JX Series isolation transformer conditions and isolates incoming power for sensitive kiosk electronics, and pairs with a J60 for battery runtime.

FAQ

Kiosk UPS questions

How long do lithium kiosk UPS batteries last?
Up to 15 years of service life, or 3,000 to 5,000 discharge cycles, far longer than the 3 to 5 years typical of lead acid.
Can a kiosk UPS run in a hot outdoor enclosure?
Yes. The J60 and J90 are rated to 50°C, with output capacity derating above 40°C. Warranty terms adjust above 40°C, so size the unit with the derating in mind.
Can I monitor and reboot kiosks remotely?
Yes. An optional SNMP/web card enables remote monitoring, and the J90’s switchable outlets allow remote reboot of individual loads across sites.
Which kiosk types benefit most?
Retail and POS kiosks, self-service terminals, outdoor payment stations, digital signage, healthcare check-in, and transit and parking machines.
