UPS for Automatic Doors and Entry Systems
Automatic doors are life-safety equipment in healthcare, commercial, and secure facilities. During a power outage, egress doors must still operate — and the door operator controller needs battery backup to make that happen. The J60, J90, and J90i lithium UPS systems are proven in this application worldwide.
“The J60i-350 provides exceptional performance — during our testing, it successfully opened our automatic doors over 90 times on backup power alone. For us, that proved it delivers reliable, real-world protection.”
J60, J90, and J90i — proven in automatic door deployments
All three platforms use LiFePO₄ battery chemistry — up to 15-year service life, 50°C operation, no routine replacement. Available in 120V and 230V models for North American and international installations.
At 1.25 inches thick and 3.4 lbs, the J60 mounts inside door controller panels on a standard 35mm DIN rail or directly on the wall above the operator. Fanless — no dust ingestion in vestibule and mechanical spaces. Automatic restart when power is restored. 120V (J60) and 230V (J60i) models support global deployments.
Online double-conversion for multi-door operator systems and integrated security panels with higher combined loads. Switchable outlets allow remote power cycling if a controller hangs after a power event. LiFePO₄, 50°C operation, up to 15-year battery life. Rack or wall mount with included brackets.
Online double-conversion at 208V/230V for international installations and commercial buildings where higher-voltage circuits are standard. Same LiFePO₄ chemistry, 50°C operation, and switchable outlets as the J90. Rack or wall mount with included brackets.
J60 mounted above a door operator — how it installs
-
Wall mount — above the door operatorThe most common installation — J60 brackets to the wall directly above or beside the door operator as shown. Short cable run to the controller. No panel modification required. The 1.25″ profile fits in the space between the operator and the ceiling or exit sign without interfering with door travel.
-
DIN rail — inside the controller panelThe optional J60-DIN Mounting Kit clips the J60 onto a standard 35mm DIN rail inside the door operator controller panel — alongside the controller board, terminals, and other panel components. No additional enclosure required.
-
120V and 230V models availableJ60 (120V) for North American installations. J60i (230V) for international deployments. Both models are the same physical size and use the same mounting hardware — simplifying global standardization for door manufacturers and distributors.
-
Automatic restart after outagesThe J60 powers back on automatically when utility power is restored — no manual reset required. Essential for unmanned door locations where no technician is on site after a power event.
Why temperature resilience and battery lifespan matter for door applications
Door operator locations are among the most challenging UPS environments — vestibules, above-door headers, mechanical spaces, and exterior-adjacent areas regularly exceed 35–45°C. Lead acid batteries in these locations degrade rapidly, often failing within 2–3 years. LiFePO₄ changes that entirely.
Common questions about UPS for automatic doors
An automatic door supplier tested the J60i-350 and verified over 90 door open cycles on battery power alone. Actual cycle count depends on door operator load, door weight, and cycle frequency — but 90+ cycles is a strong real-world baseline for most commercial door applications.
Most automatic door operator controllers draw 30–150W during normal operation. The J60 350VA handles most single-door controllers. The J60 600VA covers controllers with integrated access control or multiple outputs. For multi-door systems or integrated security panels, the J90 at 1–3kVA provides additional capacity.
The J60 is 1.25 inches thick, 3.4 lbs, and mounts on a standard wall bracket or 35mm DIN rail. It fits above most door operators, inside most controller panels with available DIN rail space, and on any adjacent wall surface. The 350VA model measures 6.9 × 8.5 × 1.25 inches — smaller than most door operator controllers.
Yes. The J60i (350VA and 600VA) operates at 230V for international installations. The J90i covers 208V/230V at 1–3kVA for larger multi-door systems. All international models are the same physical size and use the same mounting hardware as their 120V equivalents.
LiFePO₄ batteries in the J60 and J90 are rated for 3,000–5,000 discharge cycles and up to 15 years service life in ideal conditions. Standard warranty is 5 years for installations at or below 40°C ambient — 2 years above 40°C continuous. In most door operator locations this means no battery replacement for the life of the door system installation.
Yes. The J60 and J90 include automatic restart — when utility power is restored, the UPS powers back on without manual intervention. This is essential for door locations where no technician is on site to reset the UPS after a power event.
