UPS for Point of Sale Systems

Keep every transaction running through outages and surges

From quick-service restaurants to retail checkout counters, every sale depends on uninterrupted power. A brief outage can shut down POS terminals, freeze card readers, and cost the transaction. Xtreme Power UPS systems deliver compact, reliable backup for registers, kitchen printers, order screens, and card readers.

Choose from ultra-compact lithium units that mount under the counter, up to rack and tower systems for multi-terminal and back-office loads. Match the model to the terminal, the runtime, and the space you have.

Why It Matters

Why POS systems need UPS backup

Avoid lost transactions

Keep registers and card readers up through an outage so no sale is dropped mid-transaction.

Protect hardware

Shield terminals, printers, and peripherals from damaging surges and voltage sags.

Stay operational

Orders keep moving and the checkout line keeps flowing during power disturbances.

Silent and compact

Fanless, small-footprint designs fit under counters and inside enclosures.

In the Field

Proven across retail and QSR floors

“Since deploying Xtreme Power UPS systems across our POS terminals, we have not lost a single transaction during outages. The compact design fits under our counters, and the lithium batteries mean we do not worry about constant replacements.”

Model Selection

Compare POS UPS models

Whether you are powering a single register or hundreds of terminals across a chain, match the model to your environment, runtime, and budget.

POS also needs clean power
Outages are only part of the problem. Electrical noise, ground loops, and surges from kitchen and retail equipment can crash terminals even when the lights stay on. For clean, isolated power, see the POS power conditioner.
Selection Guide

How to choose a POS UPS

Match the runtime

Short ride-through for blips, or extended battery options for longer outages.

Fit the form factor

Under-counter for front-of-store, rack or tower for back-office stacks.

Pick the chemistry

Lithium for longevity and low maintenance, VRLA for lowest upfront cost.

Plan for scale

Standardize one model across new builds and refreshes for a single terminal or a full chain.

Why Xtreme Power

Built for retail and restaurant floors

Built to fit

Tower, rack, wall, and under-counter mounting fit the tight spaces retail actually has.

Fast recharge

Ready for the next outage in hours, not days.

Lithium option

LiFePO₄ models last far longer than lead acid with minimal maintenance. See the full lithium vs lead acid economics.

FAQ

POS UPS questions

How much runtime does a POS UPS provide?
Typical runtime ranges from a few minutes of ride-through to 20 minutes or more with extended battery options, depending on the model and load. Use the sizing tool to confirm for your specific terminals.
Which form factor fits a checkout counter?
The J60 mounts under the counter or behind the terminal. For multi-terminal or back-office loads, the P91 or T91 install in a rack or tower.
Lithium or lead acid for POS?
Lithium models such as the J60 and the P91 lithium option last far longer and run maintenance-free, which suits distributed fleets. Lead acid models such as the A60 and T91 lower upfront cost for single-site or budget deployments.
Can I standardize one model across all my stores?
Many operators standardize on a lithium model for new builds and refreshes. See the retail and edge selection guide for a whole-store approach.
