Xtreme Power SPDU switched and metered-by-outlet rack PDU, front view with touch LCD, dual network ports, and outlets

Overview

Intelligent rack power distribution

The SPDU provides outlet-level switching and real-time power monitoring to support operational continuity and reduce service intervention in distributed environments. Each outlet supports independent control and metering – enabling remote reboot of unresponsive equipment, device-level load visibility, staged startup and power sequencing, and proactive capacity planning. A front-panel touch LCD shows load, voltage, temperature, and alarm conditions locally.

Key features

What the SPDU delivers

Switching

Outlet-level remote reboot

Switch outlets on or off individually to power-cycle a single device without affecting adjacent equipment – no site visit required.

Metering

Metered by outlet

Per-receptacle wattage and energy data for accurate load balancing, capacity planning, and reduced overload risk.

Resiliency

Auto-reboot on loss

Automatically ping and restart connected devices when network connectivity is lost, restoring unmanned equipment.

Protection

Programmable voltage + surge

Programmable safe-voltage thresholds protect against damaging fluctuations, with integrated surge suppression at the rack level.

Environment

Temperature + touch LCD

Track ambient temperature in °C or °F; the interactive LCD shows real-time data, outlet status, and alarms at a glance.

Networking

Dual Gigabit + SNMP/web

Two RJ-45 ports (second is pass-through) with SNMP and secure web management, plus automated email/SMS event notifications.

Why outlet-level matters

Switching and metering, per device

Device faults in rack environments often require power cycling to restore operation. Outlet-level switching lets individual devices be rebooted remotely without impacting adjacent equipment – reducing downtime, eliminating unnecessary site visits, and improving response time in distributed or unmanned environments. Compared to aggregate monitoring, metered-by-outlet data supports accurate load balancing, proactive capacity planning, energy reporting, and infrastructure standardization across sites.

Models

Two models, 6 or 14 outlets

Model Outlets Mounting Surge (Joule) Dimensions (W×D×H) Weight
SPDU-0615C 6 × NEMA 5-15R 1U (short-depth) 1080 J 17.3 × 2.8 × 1.73 in 2.3 lb
SPDU-1415C 14 × NEMA 5-15R 2U 3240 J 17.3 × 3.5 × 3.5 in 5.4 lb

Both models support web-based management, SNMP monitoring, and automated outlet control, and mount in rack, wall, or desktop orientations. Input is 12 A continuous behind a 15 A breaker.

Rack power architecture

Where the SPDU fits

Smart PDUs operate as the distribution layer within a structured rack power architecture, working alongside upstream UPS systems and facility electrical infrastructure. The SPDU adds outlet-level visibility and control beneath the UPS, standardizing how power is distributed, monitored, and recovered across distributed sites.
